Depending upon your needs, situation and readiness, I utilise a variety of psychotherapy models - including Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Person-Centred Therapy - to work dynamically in a safe space where you can be 'heard', explore and examine your experiences and options, discover what may be preventing you from using your resources, recognise your own strengths, find solutions and apply them to achieve your self-determined goal.
During your initial appointment I will aim to gain a detailed understanding of you , your story and your needs, which is important so that subsequent sessions are always relevant and helpful to you. I will work with you to discuss your goals, expectations and the best way to manage and improve your situation. Therapy progress will be reviewed with reference to your goals and you will be encouraged to provide feedback to ensure that your needs are met.
Individual appointments are 50-60 minutes in duration, unless longer appointments are required. Couples sessions usually require 90 minutes. Most people choose to meet with me weekly and, as you progress, this can move to less frequent intervals. The choice to continue sessions always remains with you, however, I do require that you give a minimum of 24 hours notice to postpone or cancel an appointment.
We can also arrange online counselling sessions by Zoom, Telehealth or FaceTime, where it is not convenient or possible for you to come in to the cottage in person. Read more...
Confidentiality As a professional counsellor, I am bound by the laws of confidentiality. What is discussed in all sessions is strictly confidential and, without your consent wherever possible, your information will not be disclosed to anyone*. As we begin therapy, we will have the opportunity to discuss confidentiality, and answer any questions you may have.
*As with all counsellors and therapists, there are some circumstances where I may not be able to maintain that confidentiality. For example, in situations where there may be imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or if the law demands it, I may have a duty of care to disclose certain information. Wherever possible, I will discuss with you and seek your consent before disclosing any concern to another party.
If you would like to discuss your needs or any of the above, call me now for a free 15 minute chat. If I am in a session, please leave a message and I will call you back as soon as possible.
